Discussion on Implementation of European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership Programs in Armenia

The “Partnership for Open Society” Initiative, representing more than sixty civil society organizations, organized a discussion on Implementation of European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership Programs in Armenia. The discussion was organized within the framework of a series of events titled “From Neighborhood to Partnership” which is initiated by Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation – Armenia, Eurasia Foundation, Yerevan Press Club, “Transparency International” Anti-corruption Center, International Center for Human Development and European Integration NGO. The event took place on July 3, 2009, 14:00 p.m. at AUA Business Center (Alek Manougyan 9).

During the event Ambassador Raul de Luzenberger, the Head of European Commission Delegation to Armenia presented the Progress Report of ENP implementation for 2008, while Lithuanian Ambassador Giedrius Apuokas spoke about the European integration process in the context of European Partnership Program. Ms. Lusine Movsisyan, the 1st Secretary of Department of European Union, Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Republic of Armenia as well as Ms. Amalia Kostanyan, Chairwoman, Transparency International Anti-corruption center and Mr. Boris Navasardian, the President of Yerevan Press Club were among the discussants. Mr. Ruben Sarukhanyan, the Head of Project Administration Agency, Ministry of Economy of Armenia; Mr. Varos Simonyan, the Head of Department of EU and International Economic Affaires, Ministry of Economy of Armenia who were among the main speakers and had initially confirmed their participation were not present during the discussion.

Representatives of RA ministries and other government officials, Ambassadors of EU countries to Armenia, representatives of international organizations, civil society and media attended the event.
