Presentation of the 4th Report on the European Neighborhood Policy implementation in Armenia

The «Partnership for Open Society» Initiative, representing more than sixty civil society organizations, presented the 4th report on the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) Implementation in Armenia on March 9, 2011 at the Ballroom of the Congress Hotel.  The event was the first in a series of annual events dedicated to the memory of Amalia Kostanyan, the founder and President of Transparency International and a remarkable civil society leader.

Discussion on Human Rights in the Army and Civic Oversight

The OSCE Office in Yerevan and the «Partnership for Open Society» Initiative, representing more than sixty civil society organizations, organized a roundtable discussion on Human Rights in the Army and Civic Oversight over the Armenian Armed Forces on February 22. The event united international organizations, civil society representatives, government officials, international experts, lawyers and other interested persons.

Round-table Discussion on the RA Law on Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations and related laws

The «Partnership for Open Society» Initiative in cooperation with the OSCE Office in Yerevan, the Council of Europe Office in Armenia and the UN Department of Public Information (UNDPI), organized a round-table discussion on the recent amendments to the RA Law on Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations and related laws on February 17, 2011. The event brought together international organizations, civil society representatives, government officials, Venice Commission Experts, Armenian Apostolic Holy Church as well as members of different religious communities.

Journalists’ Club “Asparez”, through close collaboration with the “Transparency International Anti-corruption Center” and Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor office, implemented a project “Advocacy and Assistance center in Shirak Region” in the period from October 2008 to July 2010. EU Statement in the OSCE on the case against human rights defender Evgeniy Zhovtis

The EU has learnt that the complaint filed on behalf of Kazakh human rights defender and member of the ODIHR Panel of Experts on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly, Evgeniy Zhovtis, in order to protest against procedural violations made during the appeal hearing of his criminal trial was turned down by the supervisory college of the Almaty regional court on December 10.
