Unhealthy Electoral Politics: Joint Statement of NGOs to the Armenian Government
As Armenia heads into parliamentary and presidential elections after the 2008 post-election crackdown that threw the country into an unprecedented human rights crisis, the government needs to recommit politically to the international human rights principles and embrace established democratic election standards.
On February 17, Shirak court of general jurisdiction granted the claim of Gyumri Municipality and made CHAP LLC, the founder of GALA TV, demount the transmitting satellite and cable from TV tower located at Sargsyan str. 6/1 in Gyumri within a month. GALA TV announced that they intend to appeal the decision in the Court of Appeals.

Statement on the Not Objective Attitude of the RA Police Regarding the Shortcomings Available at the RA Police Detention Facilities
On June 24, 2010 the Public Monitoring Group members submitted recurrent records on different types of shortcomings available at the DFs in three different marzes of RA. Below are presented facts from the above mentioned records, the RA Police comments regarding these facts, and the clarification given by the Monitoring Group.
According to Article 83.2 of the amended Constitution of the Republic
of Armenia, "an independent regulatory body shall be created with the
aim of ensuring the freedom, independence and diversity of broadcast
media. Half of the members of this body shall be selected by the
National Assembly for a period six years, and the other half shall be
appointed by the President of the Republic of Armenia for a period of
six years.
On March 11 the MCC left the suspension of the funding for roads within the MCA-Armenia Compact in place. The initial suspension in June 2008 was motivated by unresolved problems with the human rights and civil liberties and the last decision not to lift suspension was due to insufficient progress in solution of these problems.
